LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to call up an important meeting next week at the PCB headquarters in Lahore to make crucial decisions following Pakistan's abysmal performance in the ICC World Cup 2023.
The chairman of the PCB Management Committee, Zaka Ashraf, will meet with ex-cricketers and captains to get their input on the team's performance during the mega event.
The head of the PCB Technical Committee Misbah-ul-Haq will give his feedback and the PCB also wants to get in contact with Mohammad Hafeez, who resigned from the committee just before the World Cup squad was announced.
Umar Gul, Azhar Ali, Saeed Ajmal, Mushtaq Ahmed, Aqib Javed, Mohsin Khan and Moin Khan will give their inputs to Ashraf.
Ashraf will talk about the possible changes in the coaching staff and there will be legal consultation on their contracts as well.
The name of Justin Langer would be discussed for the coaching.
The options of different captains for red-ball and white-ball format are also one of the agendas for the upcoming meeting.
However, some top officials of PCB do not want big changes to take place just before the three-match Test tour to Australia.
It must be noted that Pakistan have been knocked out of the ICC World Cup 2023 after failing to achieve the required net run-rate target against England in Kolkata during their final round-robin stage match on Saturday.
Pakistan needed to restrict England to 100 runs to have any chance of qualifying for the semi-finals but, since the latter have gone past that figure, the Men in Green are now out of the event.
Pakistan won't be able to chase down England's target within the required overs, keeping NRR in mind, even if they hit a six on every ball.
By the time this story was filed, Pakistan were 17-2 with Babar Azam (9*) and Mohammad Rizwan (6*) on the crease chasing a 338-run target.
