KARACHI: Pakistani duo of Gulfam Joseph and Kismala Talat failed to win the bronze medal in the 10m air rifle mixed double team event in the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hongzhou, China on Saturday.
Pakistani duo lost to Iran’s duo of Amir Joharikhou and Haniyeh Rostamiyan.
Despite leading Iran by four points in the first eight shots, Pakistan couldn’t hold on to their lead and ended up losing their lead.
The match was tied 14-14 after which Iran took the lead once again just by 0.4 points in the final shot.
It must be noted that in the team medal match, the team to score 16 points first emerge victorious.
Pakistan qualified for the bronze match after finishing in the top six in the earlier stages.
On the other hand, Pakistan could not impress in track and field events.
Mohammad Afzal only jumped 6.73m high jump and finished last in his group.
In women’s 100m hurdles, Pakistan’s Ghazala Ramzan finished last in round 1 after completing the race in 15.43 seconds.
Meanwhile, in the men’s 1500m race, Waqas Akbar finished ninth with 3:58:10 timing while another Pakistani sprinter, Amir Sohail, finished eighth with 3:58:70 timing.
